GRNSS strives to raise environmental awareness and inspire stewardship of the Eagle River watershed by providing natural science learning adventures for youth and adults. Customized programs are an adjunct component to standardized science curricula and provide an opportunity for real life, hands-on science education outside the classroom. Programs include: scientific field study trips for school groups, outreach in the classrooms, year round programs for youth and adults, interdisciplinary science education, teacher training workshops, summer science day programs, residential backcountry science camps, and adult natural history seminars.

High Mountain Institute, Leadville
http://www.hminet.org

HMI is dedicated to nurturing personal and community growth through interaction with the natural world and to the idea of "simple in means, rich in ends." Learning by experience, academic excellence, and education that inspires intellectual growth are fundamental principles of the institute's programs. HMI's defining program is the Rocky Mountain Semester (RMS) an academic and wilderness program for motivated college-bound students in their junior or senior year of high school. In the wilds of the Colorado Plateau, there are many teachable moments that form a bridge between the lessons of the textbooks and those of the larger world. Additionally, HMI offers short-term programs such as wilderness medicine and avalanche courses, custom leadership training programs, professional development seminars for educators, and program development consulting services for smaller outdoor programs.
