Mar 9: Frying Pan River Rd plowed and fine, but short (30 yd) driveway to parking lot and parking lot not plowed. Shoveled it out just before a homeowner, whose driveway goes North from the parking area, did a thorough snow removal with a big blower. Still, only 2 car spots freed up. No 10th Mtn hut users were parked there. Our party of 2 tries valiantly to post hole our way up the trail. Heavy 18-24". We lost trail after about 1 mile and headed left (North) too early, made it about another 1/4 mile and bailed. If your read this and are next in, be sure not to follow our tracks in the left turn, and rather hug the trees on the right side of the meadow to stay on trail. Good luck!
Alex - we must have followed your tracks in on 3/12. We had a group of 12 on snowshoes and were able to make it to the hut but it took forever (9 hours moving plus breaks to melt snow for water). Highly recommend staying on trail until the avy risks settles down. Hopefully our trail will help others get to and from the hut given the amount of snow this year. Departed the hut on 3/14.
